While there are no visible details of her house and residence, we can somehow speculate that she has a cozy home. And, it does not boast much modernity.

The Early Struggles Of Bridges; She Faced Racism

Before she got the determination to be an activist, Ruby faced a lot of struggles. Ruby was the only African American who got into an all-white school in New Orleans. She was just six years old when things started to get bad for her.

The nasty people tormented and got furious at Ruby all the time. They used to shout, scold, and throw hateful things at her. Adding to the horrible activity, people even put a black doll in a coffin to represent Ruby.

For a six-year-old to handle such trauma is not a joke and because of those bad experiences, Ruby suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Take a look at Ruby’s statement: “I tried not to pay attention to the mob. ┬áSomeone had a black doll in a coffin, and that scared me more than the nasty things people screamed at us.”

    Ruby faced hate in childhood

Furthermore, her father was fired from his job because Ruby attended an all-white school. Her mother also was prohibited from shopping in the local grocery stores.

All this blatant racism and hate towards her color encouraged Bridges to become an activist who can bring a change. She then slowly gathered people to fight for their rights.

    She Only Ate Packaged Food

Ruby only used to eat packaged food in school as she feared that someone would poison her. Based on all the threats and hate, she never trusted anyone with food. So, she had to change her eating habit limiting herself to eating only packaged foods.
