Louganis who is still alive has been fighting against the terrific disease HIV. He was actually diagnosed with it six months before the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Soon after the infection, Greg started taking antiretrovirals and only revealed his disease about seven years after in 1995.
However, Louganis faced a huge backlash after the diver didn’t come forward to reveal his diagnosis at the time of his head injury during the 1988 Olympics as many other divers dome into the same pool Greg had bled into.
